People celebrated the day of July 4th in Torrance,California to remember “the hero of our hometown” Louis Zamperini. Majority of the events that happen in the book actually happen in the real life story. No one really thought of Louis as a good kid because of the things that he was known for doing on the streets of Torrance. They people in the book have the same perspective on him as they would have in real life. That Louie was not that great of a child as people thought he would be, although he did grow up to be America's best track star of time.
